The Laboratory Technician should be highly organized and dependable to ensure that all laboratory operations run smoothly by supporting the day-to-day operations of the research laboratory. This involves working closely with the Laboratory Manager to ensure that the lab is organized, tidy and stocked with the necessary inventory. The technician will also be responsible for cleaning glassware, preparing buffers and other general laboratory reagents. In addition, assistance with shipping and receiving will be required and will be part of the responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- General lab support, including washing glassware, laboratory material logistics and equipment maintenance.
- Oversee and replenish the in-lab consumable stock and shelves and assist in maintaining all crucial inventory stocks to prevent back-order issues.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy, safety and quality of work.
- Understand, comply and promote safe laboratory and work practices.
- Shipping and receiving of laboratory reagents, consumables and equipment.
- See to proper functioning of lab instruments and contact with vendors as necessary for maintenance, calibration and certification.
- Preparation of buffers and other common lab reagents.
- Assisting in coordinating the reception of loading dock deliveries (eg. compressed gas cylinder, LN2 tank, and large equipment)
- Work closely with the Laboratory Manager and Sample Manager to ensure day-to-day operations.
- Use summary reports to plan and organize work.
- Keep work area clean, neat and organized.
The successful candidate will exhibit the following minimum profile:
- Diploma of College Studies (DCS/DEC) or a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or another health and science field.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Experience working in a research & development lab would be an asset.
